A much beloved ivory white species which is not easily found in gem quality, mostly because of its ill habit to encrust sand and small patches of mud in its nacre, a fact which is well enough known from other Umbilas sharing the deep sea muddy bottom, but these imperfections look really very ugly on these white shells; and what a kind of white it is! Milky white sounds nice but would not meet the point because this beauty has a ghastly shine of silvery white moonlight! A beautiful and absolutely clean piece, very inflated and pearshaped and very large, this is one of the best!
